Little girl terrified.......

Curled up on her bed, even the smallest joys have become too daunting for her shattered mind and trembling body. Her stories becoming too much, her drawings hopeless, work impossible. Outside the wooden door, roams some of the sharpest shards that pierce her heart daily. As much as it hurts her, she can't escape.

A home is no place to hide...........

She wants to smash everything. Break her most precious heirlooms, rip up the irreplaceable pictures, burn everything that creates this fake persona she's become.  Scream her throat raw, break her knuckles, cave her head in. Her body trembles as these violent thoughts wash over her, consume her, drive her insane. She just wants it all to stop.

Her heart is breaking from the pain that she feels........

Finally, as a choked gasp forces its way passed her raw lips, the tears begin to fall. The familiar sensation only brings out more are the pain inside intensifies. Hot and salty, they run rivers down her flushed face, and she just wants them to go away. They only wash away the dirt on old memories coffins, bringing them back to the surface.

Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides, and tries to pray
She wonders why, does anyone ever hear her when she cries......

Knowing she can't reveal her emotions, as it only causes more problems is she goes outside naked, she slowly reaches for her mask. She winces as she sees the cracks from the smile, the warped edges around the eyes from the tears, the scratches becoming more and more visible. But she has no choice but to wear it. People at school at beginning to worry, but she knows that they can't intervene. They won't intervene. Not until it's too late, or she does something about this first.

How could they act like everything is alright?

She makes a quick stop in the bathroom. A safe zone between her room and reality. Checks to make sure her eyes aren't too red, so that her mother won't ask questions. Her mother may say she cares, but if she did, why would her daughter feel that it's necessary to hide? In the dining room, her little sister smiles, and her heart aches. She knows what will happen in the end, but she can't help her. Her mother is standing in front of the oven, pulling out something delicious for dinner. The mask smiles. The mask speaks. But the girl underneath just wants to scream.

This is the dark before the dawn
The storm before the peace
Don't be afraid 'cause seasons change......

After the meal, she cleans up the dishes and puts away the leftovers. Normal habits. She just wants to escape to her room. To cry, to write, to talk to those she knows understand her. And as the mask is lain next to her, the face behind it manages to smile, her heart heals a little. And with the stitches, it's able to soar when she receives messages from her love. Then her friends. And last but not least, her family. The ones holding a net for her when she falls. And she smiles a little more.

Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides, and tries to pray
She'll be just fine, cause now he hears her when she cries......

Soon enough, she'll be all right. Soon enough, she'll be with the ones that care for her, and about her. And she cries, knowing that freedom from the intense pain is so close, yet so far away. And for a brief moment, she considers giving in. But then another message draws her attention, and she know's she can make it through another day. And even though she cries, she knows she'll make it through the storm. Because she has a rainbow awaiting her, ready to embrace her and hold her close, kissing away the tears and soothing the ancient ache inside her heart and her soul.
A little thing I wrote to release the negative emotions building up.....

Long story short,

My mother brought up something I'd rather forget.....
